Introducing one of the most interesting bunches from Loro Piana, Mare.
Mare in Italian means sea, this bunch brings us the summer mood, offering cotton, linen, silk and wool blended materials designed for refined and comfortable summer wear. The bunch contains 67 items with a wide range to qualities such as cotton-wool-silk, wool-silk-linen, wool-silk, linen-silk, linen-cotton, cotton spandex, 100% cotton and 100% silk. A variety of textures and weights ideal for suits, jackets and trousers, with a colour palette juxtaposing neutral and blue shades to brighter colour tones of great impact and personality.
Of all the qualities offered in this bunch, I like to bring your attention to three items that I like most.
The first one is the seersucker, it is not the ordinary cotton seersucker that you normally found in other bunches, this one is a 90% Super 150’s wool and 10% Silk mixed fabric in 180-190 grams. It is not only light but super fine and breathable. Though they only offer 4 colours but good enough to stand out from its peers.
The second quality is the 100% Silk fabric. If you are looking for an elegant, light weighted fabric with strong texture for a dinner jacket, this quality is perfect for the job. It is similar to mohair, but the slub from a 100% Silk fabric gives a raw look to the garment which I found extremely appealing.
The last quality is the Cotton Spandex series. The Cotton Spandex from Mare bunch is made with a delicate and silky finish, it is so fine that you almost forget that you are wearing a cotton suit, yet, it does provide the casualness of a cotton fabric. This mixture of casualness and elegance is what the Mare bunch is about.
