Honestly, when the weather gets over 30oC, basically you will feel hot putting on any kind of jacket, having said that, you will still find some materials that are more suitable for the warm weather, one of the them is light weight mohair.
Mohair is a silk-like fabric from the hair of the Angora goat. It is believed that the Angora goat is originated from the mountains of Tibet and later moved to Turkey. Mohair is one of the oldest fibres in the world.
The most common type of mohair fabric that we find in the tailor bunches these days are mainly wool-mohair blended fabric. The most distinguish characteristic of mohair fabric is the natural sheen or almost silk-like appearance which is also one of reasons why we always find wool-mohair fabric used for formal wear. The fibre takes dye exceptionally well and does not fade easily. It also has high elasticity and shrink less than wool and hence has better wrinkle resistance.
One interesting fact about mohair is that the fabric tends to mat when it gets wet. When pressing items that contains mohair, lower the temperature of the iron and avoid using steam iron.
All in all, wool-mohair is a high-quality fabric that gives an expensive and more formal look, it is very comfortable to wear and takes crease well.
