High Twist Fabric

We often hear the terms High Twist fabric or Open Weave fabric or simply Fresco fabric which are all referring to fabrics with good crease resistance and breathability. So, what exactly is High Twist fabric? First of all, the word Twist in fabric terms is defined as the spiral turns given to yarn to hold the fibres or yarns together. Twist gives coherence and strength to yarn. The level of twist will therefore affect the properties of the fabric. With increase in twist, the fabric will become harder due to the compactness of yarn, it also means the fibres bond tightly which it can’t be pulled easily out of the yarn and thus prevent pilling. That is why we always refer High Twist fabric as more durable and performs better with crease resistance. It is also the increase of the strength of the yarn that allows the fabric to be made with an open weave setting which enhances the breathability of the fabric.

As High Twist fabrics are well received by customers, many fabric brands will include this type of fabric in their collection. They do come in different weight and finishing but with most of them having very similar features.
